Owens-Illinois, Inc. filed an appeal (Sparks v. Owens-Illinois, Inc. (1995) 32 Cal.App.4th 461) after the courts awarded personal injury damages in a mesothelioma lawsuit filed by Charles and Betty Sparks. Charles Sparks developed a mesothelioma symptoms caused by exposure to asbestos products during his service in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Bremerton in 1960.
