Janie Perez filed an appeal (Perez v. Todd Shipyards Corp. 999 S.W.2d 31 (1999)) in a mesothelioma lawsuit filed following the death of Guadalupe Garcia due to asbestos-related injuries. Garcia received a mesothelioma diagnosis after several years of on-the-job asbestos exposure as a shipyard worker.
