Owens-Corning filed an appeal (Buttram v. Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corp. (1997) 16 Cal.4th 520) after the courts awarded personal injury damages in a mesothelioma lawsuit filed by James Buttram. Buttram received a mesothelioma diagnosis caused by asbestos exposure during his time aboard the Navy vessel U.S.S. Mullaney.
